Entertaining season is nearly here, the perfect excuse to give some attention to your home.
Spring cleaning doesn't have to mean changing everything. Often, it's the simple ritual of cleaning well, placing favourite items back in order and introducing a few fresh details that makes a home feel renewed.
Start With A Clean
When cleaning, start from the top and work your way down. Dust shelves, picture frames, light fittings and those easily missed corners before tackling surfaces and floors.
Having the right tools can make all the difference. A feather duster is ideal for delicate objects and hard to reach spots. And a sturdy broom will be a great investment for your cleaning routine. For many of us, the kitchen is a shared room where we gather and can spend many hours. Make it a beautiful place to be with a few considered additions; a favourite artwork, a pot plant on the counter and a fresh kitchen floor mat can change the whole room.
Give Soft Furnishings a Seasonal Update
Spring is the perfect time to lighten up the layers around your home for the warmer months ahead.
Wash any throws and cushion covers, taking this opportunity to review your soft furnishings. You don't need entirely new furnishings, changing two or three cushion covers or updating the curtains can freshen up the whole room. Consider introducing lighter linens, softer colours or a fresh pattern, while keeping some of your year-round favourites in the mix.
Make seasonal changes easier by reusing your existing cushion inserts and simply swapping out the covers.
Freshen Up The Bathroom
A fresh set of towels is a small luxury that can make the bathroom feel instantly renewed. Choose good quality cotton towels in colours that will work with your bathroom for years. Calm, neutral tones are easy to layer into an existing bathroom and will create a clean, fresh feeling that's perfect for this time of year.
Clear, Edit & Restyle
A seasonal refresh is also the perfect time reassess smaller surfaces around home : bedside tables, consoles, bathroom vanities and shelves. Rather than simply dusting everything and putting it straight back, clear the surface completely, give it a proper clean and then be selective about what returns.
One or two beautiful decorator pieces can have much more impact than a collection of objects. A little brass dish beside the bed can hold rings and everyday jewellery, while a decorative jewellery stand can add height and interest to a dresser or vanity.
The most satisfying spring refreshes aren’t necessarily dramatic. A beautifully swept floor, freshly laundered towels, clean linen, a new cushion cover and a few thoughtfully chosen pieces can be enough to make the whole house feel lighter.
