We’re looking for someone to join the Pepperwhites Retail team in a permanent part-time capacity, working Sunday to Wednesday each week in our Balmain Store. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves retail, enjoys building relationships with customers and takes pride in providing excellent service.
We’re looking for someone who can be confident working both independently and as part of a team, and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the store.
About the Role
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Providing warm, knowledgeable and genuine customer service
- Proactively engaging with customers and helping them find the right products
- Building strong product knowledge and confidently assisting with sales
- Processing sales and operating the POS system
- Opening and/or closing the store as required
- Replenishing stock and maintaining excellent store presentation
- Receiving and processing stock deliveries
- Assisting with merchandising and displays
- Completing general store operations and administrative tasks
- Working collaboratively with the Team Leader, permanent staff and casual team members
About you
To be considered, you'll have:
- A minimum of 2 years' retail experience.
- Previous experience in homewares and/or furniture sales (highly regarded).
- Strong sales skills, with the confidence to engage customers, build rapport, and achieve sales targets.
- A friendly, customer-focused attitude with excellent communication skills.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Is organised, dependable and takes pride in their work
- Is comfortable working independently when required
- Enjoys being part of a collaborative, close-knit team
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Is willing to take initiative and contribute to the smooth running of the store
- Is reliable and looking for the stability of a permanent part-time position
- Is available to work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
- Has availability to work across the 2026 Christmas season (October - January), including Christmas Eve.
- Gift wrapping experience is highly desirable.

CHRISTMAS CASUAL RETAIL SALES ASSISTANT
We're looking for enthusiastic Christmas Casual Retail Sales Assistants to join our team in Balmain for the busy Christmas season!
Employment Period
- Commencing October 2026
- Casual employment through to 31 January 2027
- Opportunity for the role to be extended beyond January based on performance and availability of ongoing work.
About You
To be considered, you'll have:
- A minimum of 2 years' retail experience.
- Previous experience in homewares and/or furniture sales (highly regarded).
- Strong sales skills, with the confidence to engage customers, build rapport, and achieve sales targets.
- A friendly, customer-focused attitude with excellent communication skills.

Availability Requirements
Successful applicants must be available to:
- Work 1-4 shifts per week.
- Work across both weekdays and weekends.
- Work during the week leading up to Christmas, including on Christmas Eve.
Please note that our store is closed from Christmas Day until 5 January, so no shifts will be available during this period.
